Elgin Stairs showed with high stance at 12th China international Architecture Expo on 23rd, May. The new establishment of Elgin-ERNST on 28th, May showed that after several years’ struggling Elgin has sped up on its way.

Elgin first introduced Italian stairs to China in 1999, which filled up the vacancy of top grade stairs in China. After two years’ struggling, Shanghai Elgin Stairs Co, Ltd, the first professional stairs company with a complete service of marketing, design, installation and service, was established in Shanghai in July, 2001. With the common efforts of Elgin employees and all the agents, so far it has had top grade stairs franchised stores in more than 60 big or medium size cities all over the country. The brand “Elgin” has also gained high influence among the customers. Meanwhile, its prestige at home and abroad has been increased. A lot of world-famous stairs companies came all the way for cooperation. During 2002 and 2003, we successfully cooperated with TM Stairs Company in Spain and ERNST Stairs Company in Germany and set up “Elgin International”. At the same time, we built Elgin Stairs factory, TM-Elgin stairs factory and ERNST-Elgin stairs factory in Shanghai. The joint ventures shortened the supply period, reduced the cost and provided predominance in the exploration of domestic and international market. In April, 2005 Elgin started cooperation with the famous Loft Stairs Manufacturer Minka in Austria and introduced the first electric extension ladder which further richened products line.

Elgin developed a lot in the year 2006. It, together with the famous German stairs manufacturer “ERNST” which has a history of more than 110 years, purchased a land in Songjiang District, Shanghai to build a top-ranking modern stairs manufacturing company – Shanghai Elgin-ERNST Stairs Manufacturing Co, Ltd which covers an area of 25,000 square meters with the floor area of 20,000 square meters. It invested over 20 million RMB on equipment. 5% of the total is used to introduce advanced stairs design and processing software from Germany. 30% is used to buy two pieces of most advanced PE-FO CNC center (the first one in the country) in the world, which made machining of three-dimension abnormal curve spare parts possible. Besides these, Elgin’s handrail and one-time side board processing made its products more competitive. With the establishment of the new factory, a set of domestically and internationally advanced equipment as well as a number of excellent talents will gradually be brought into the new company. Elgin-ERNST Stairs Manufacturing Co, Ltd will stand by the Huangpu River as the top stairs manufacturer in the world, creating world-famous stairs brand for China, leading Chinese stairs manufacture industry to the standard, series and modern era.
